Gimmick – Gridiron – Anything

Hi Everyone!

Word of the Day Challenge!

How many items have you heard that sound good, but turn out to be a gimmick just to get your money.

  • How about when you need a new/used car?
  • Here comes five (5) salespersons heading towards you. You watch them as they get closer, closer, closer and then one of them pulls out this beautiful set of silverware. “Free if you buy from me!”
  • You think what a gimmick!
  • Next one comes to you and  surprise here’s a gift card worth $500.00, if you buy your car from me!
  • You’re ready to grab and then you stop wondering what is the gimmick on this one?
  • And now the next comes towards you with a cooler filled with coupons.
    • All of a sudden all the salespersons say “Hey what just happened?” As they are watching you running out of the showroom.

You made a smart choice.

Fandango’s One Word Challenge!

Song below is a toe tapper! Anything Goes by Cole Porter. No I wasn’t born yet. Most people back then heard it on the radio. If you don’t know the words by heart from the older generation out there, words are below. Enjoy!

Times have changed,
And we’ve ofter rewound the clock
Since the puritans got a shock
When they landed on Plymouth rock
If today any shock they might try to stem
’stead of landing of Plymouth rock
Plymouth rock would land on them.

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking
But now God knows
Anything goes

Good authors to
Who once knew better words
Now only use four letter words
Writing prose
Anything goes

If driving fast cars you like
If low bars you like
If old hymns you like
If bare limbs you like
If Mae West you like
Or me undressed you like
Why nobody will oppose

When every night
The set that’s smart
Is intruding on nudist parties
In studios
Anything goes

When Mrs. Ned McClean God bless her
Can get Russian reds to yes her
Than I suppose
Anything goes

When Rockafeller still can hoard
Enough money to let Max Gordon
Produce his shows
Anything goes

The world has gone mad today
And good’s bad today
And black’s white today
And days night today
And that gent today
You gave a cent today
Once owned several châteaux

When folks
See the source imageWho still can ride in Jitney’s
Find out Vanderbilts and Whitney’s
Lack baby clo’es
Anything goes

When Sam Goldwyn
Can with great conviction
Instruct Anna Sten in diction
Than Anna shows
Anything goes

When you hear that
Lady Mendl standing up
Now turns a handspring landing up-
On her toes
Anything goes

Just think of those shocks you’ve got
And those knocks you’ve got
And those blues you’ve got
From those news you’ve got
And those pains you’ve got
(if any brains you’ve got)
From those little radios

So Mrs. R.
With all her trimmin’s
Can broadcast a bed from Simmon’s
Cause Franklin knows

Hi Everyone!

I’m trying something new today. Testing myself.
Writing about two (2) words today. One is from RDP Camouflage, the second one is from WOTD Zenith. Here I go.

Hope: Do you see what I see?
Nins: No! What did you see?
Hope: Come on try harder. It’s right over there just before you enter the maze, come on.See the source image
Nins: What ever you see has very good camouflage. What I see is a thrown away Hersey bar wrapper.
Hope: No, no, no. I just took a picture of a zenith. I mean a sphere made from Lego’s. See the source image

Nins: WOW! Come on let’s go over there. We can check at the office if anyone has reported it missing.

Have a great day! Hope

Kira’s Sunday Scribbles – Week 26

Hi Everyone!

How sad to see our lady with tears.

Why do you think she is crying?

Tear for Freedom lost,
Tear for the ones that gave their lives so we as a nation could keep our Freedom,
Tear for the way people are treated today because of the way they look, Tear for words of rage, hate, hostility, odium, repugnance, aversion, the words that are used can never be taken back no matter who you said them too,
Tear for senseless, corruptible, perversion, acts from one person to another,
Tear for the sight our nation has lost about life,
Tear for the lost of caring,

In case you forgot – below is a reminder of what is written on our beloved Statue of Liberty.
See the source image

Here’s  another reminder from “Ghostbusters Two (2)” movie. It shows people singing together on New Year’s Eve to break the “slime” away.

You know we can do this without the “slime!”

Have a great day! Hope

Word of the Day: Waltzing

Hi Everyone!

Do you know how to waltz? See the source image

Have you ever watched the ballroom dancers? Do you wish you could dance like them?

Artist Fernado Botero

I could dance all night!

This song from is from the musical My Fair Lady, with music written by Frederick Loewe and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, published in 1956. The song is sung by the musical’s heroine, Eliza Doolittle, expressing her exhilaration and excitement after an impromptu dance with her tutor, Henry Higgins – in the small hours of the morning. In a counterpoint during the second of 3 rounds, two maids and the housekeeper, Mrs. Pearce, urge Eliza to go to bed, but she ignores them.

It was first performed by Julie Andrews in the original Broadway production of My Fair Lady. In the 1964 film adaptation of the musical, the song was sung by Marni Nixon, dubbing the singing voice of Audrey Hepburn, who played Eliza Doolittle.[2] In 2004, Nixon’s version finished at #17 on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema.

Hit versions of the song were recorded by Sylvia SymsDinah ShoreAngélica MaríaBen E. King as an ATCO single, Frank SinatraRosemary Clooney, and Jamie Cullum. It was featured in The Birdcage sung by Nathan LaneHank AzariaGene HackmanRobin Williams and Dianne Wiest. Many actresses have also sung the song in the stage version of the musical including Martine McCutcheonLaura Michelle KellyAmy NuttallLisa O’Hare, and Lauren Ambrose.

Word of the Day: Dream

Hi Everyone!

  • Song:
    • Dream a little dream of me – do you remember that song?
    • If you don’t remember it was sung by Mama Cass of the Mamas & Papas back in the day of 1968. Song was originally done in 1931 by Ozzie Nelson.
  • Quote:
    • Believe in love. Believe in magic. Hell, believe in Santa Clause. Believe in others. Believe in yourself. Believe in your dreams. If you don’t, who will? Jon Bon Jovi
      Read more at: https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/dreams
  • Per The Free Dictionary:
    • A series of images, ideas emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep.
  •  Dream Catcher – Introduction
    • The Dream Catcher may be the perfect gift for anyone who suffers from nightmares.
    • Dream Catchers are round. Inside the loop thread is arranged in such a way it resembles a spider’s web. Feathers are attached to the bottom. Beads are often used. Some choose to have one bead in the middle representing the spider.
  • Dream Catcher – How a dream catcher works according to believers
    • Dream Catchers are placed in the bedroom. When a person goes to sleep the Dream Catcher will attract all the dreams. Good dreams pass through and slide down the feathers to reach the person sleeping. When morning comes and the Dream Catcher is exposed to light, the bad dreams dissolve and disappear. They cannot survive in daylight. As the person wakes up he or she feels refreshed after a pleasant and peaceful sleep.
