Smitten

Hi Everyone!

Have you ever been smitten? For one thing I dragged out my paper dictionary The New Merriam-Webster with a copyright of 1989 to see what smitten is all about.

Are pages yellow you ask? Yes they are!

Here’s the meaning of smite – 1989 doesn’t even have smitten – says to strike heavy, to affect as a heavy blow. Yikes! I thought it meant more like the statements below.

Now at Merriam-Webster website it has –
deeply affected with or struck by strong feelings of attraction, affection, or infatuation.

Now The Free Dictionary one definition has –
to afflict or attack with deadly or disastrous effect: smitten by polio.
to affect mentally, morally, or emotionally with a strong and sudden feeling: They were smitten with terror.

to impress favorably; enamor:  he was smitten by her charms

Have you been smitten lately?

Have a great day! Hope
